Joy Adkins Benton, 82, of Jacksonville, Florida slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus Thursday, January 29, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born in Corbin, Kentucky on August 6, 1932. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Thomas F. Benton, her son, Marty Cothern (Debby), her three daughters, Karen Blankenship (Rich), Tammy Duggan, and Terri Benton, five grandchildren, Kristina Joy Dickinson (Nathan), Courtney Pecoraro (Michael), Haley Cothern, Madison Cothern, and Taylor Duggan, three great grandchildren, Makalya, Samantha, and Christian Thomas. She is also survived by her brother, Harold Adkins, Corbin, KY, and sister, Thelma Sullivan, Las Vegas, NV, several nieces and many other relatives and friends that love and miss her dearly. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Sid and Esther Adkins and her sister, Muriel Smith. She was a devoted wife, caring mother and grandmother, who loved the Lord and her family with all her heart. Graveside services will be 10:30 A.M. on Thursday February 5th, 2015 at Jacksonville National Cemetery with Pastor Mark Tyre officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday February 4th, 2015.
