Mrs. Joy Elizabeth Carpenter Young 75, of Keystone Heights passed away at the Park Meadows Rehab & Nursing Home in Gainesville on Tuesday, October 18, 2011. Mrs. Young was born on March 10, 1936 in Anne Arundel, Maryland to the late Charles and Lillian (Brightman) Carpenter, and has been a resident of Keystone heights since 1992 moving here from Sarasota. Prior to her retirement she was a nurse. Mrs. Young was a member of the Hope Baptist Church, loved to crochet, and was known as the Hat lady. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Russell Young in 1995. She is survived by her brother Exum Bardin of East Palatka. A memorial service will be held at a later. Burial was in the Eliam Cemetery in Melrose. In lieu of flower contributions may be made to the Hope Baptist Church, 3900 SE SR 100, Starke, FL 32091.
