Joyce Danese Harmon

Joyce Danese Harmon, age 83, passed away on Thursday February 8, 2018 at the Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring Hospice Center in Jacksonville.Joyce was born in Hartsfield, Georgia on June 9, 1934 to William Edgar Avera, Sr. & Minnie Jewel Sanderlin Avera. She was a longtime Jacksonville resident and a longtime member of Spring Glen United Methodist Church. Joyce worked for many years as a school bus driver.She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt & friend and she will be missed dearly by all who knew her.Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edmund Roy Harmon, Sr., her sisters, Betty Jane McClelland and Loyce Elise Davis and her brother, William Edgar Avera, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Danese Cox (husband, Perry); her son, Edmund Roy Harmon, Jr. "Eddie"; grandchildren Douglas & Michael Cox; her sister Linda Beasley (husband, Paul) and by many extended family, church family & friends.A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday February 12, 2018 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S., with Rev. Neal Avirett of Spring Glen United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday February 11, 2018 at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Community Hospice & Palliative Care, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257 or American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.Arrangements are under the direction of George H.
