Juanita Wainwright Baker Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita Wainwright Waweena Baker, 86, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South, with Dr. Robert L. Morris, Jr. of First Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Born September 4, 1925, in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of Naomi and King Solomon Wainwright, Mrs. Baker died August 28, 2012 in Tallahassee, Florida. A graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, Class of 1942, Mrs. Baker was employed by Atlantic Coast Line Railroad and Martinez Baker Electric Company, where she was a Partner in the business. She was Past President of the Jacksonville Downtown Lioness Club; a Past President of the Women's Missionary Union, First Baptist Church; and a teacher in the Adult Sunday School at First Baptist Church for 15 years. Mrs. Baker was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Martinez Baker on February 24, 2008. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Judy Baker Pate and her husband, J. Michael Pate of Tallahassee, Florida, and Dr. Susan Diane Hewell and her husband, George H. Hewell II, of Jacksonville; a grandson, Brian Pate and his wife Eileen; and two great-granddaughters, Shannon Pate and Cassidy Pate, all of Wake Forest, North Carolina. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2012.
