Juanita "Nita" B. Catlett

Mrs. Juanita B. "Nita" Catlett age 93, of Keystone Heights passed away at her daughters home on Monday, October 3, 2016. She was born in Jacksonville on January 11, 1923 to the late Adolphus and Alice (Prescott) Bessent and graduated from Baldwin High School. Mrs. Catlett retired as a secretary twice from Baptist Hospital and at the age of 78, she retired again for a third time. She had been a longtime resident of Keystone and Melrose and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was a Daughters of the Nile and enjoyed attending gospel sings and taking care of others. Her husband of 43 years, Aldwyn "A.C." Columbus Catlett had preceded her in death along with her step mother, Mary A. Bessent and siblings, D.B. Bessent, Earl L. Bessent, Harold Bessent, DeWitt Bessent, La Verne Bessent, Junior Bessent, Edward Bessent and Thelma Bessent Higginbotham. Mrs. Catlett is survived by three children; Linda Orr (David) of Green Cove Springs, Daniel Overstreet (Rae) of Shelby, North Carolina and Wayne Aldwyn Catlett (Susan) of Ft. Myers; eight grandchildren; Anita Vandergriff, David Orr, Jr., Vicki Williams (Mike), Dawn M. Catlett, Lacy Webb, Brian Aldwyn Catlett (Alicia), Jonathan L. Catlett (Maria), and Rebecca Garry (Matt), and five great grandchildren; Steven C. Vandergriff, Jr., Michael D. Vandergriff , Riley and Benjamin Catlett, Michael Garry. Also left behind are two sisters, Evelyn Stinson, La Vohn Crews and a brother Herschel Bessent along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life for Nita will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 10:00 a..m. in Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor James Peoples and Pastor Scott Stanland officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville.
