Juanita Starling Dukes Crum, 97, went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday July 7, 2021.A Jacksonville native, Juanita was born here on April 5, 1924 to Brooks E. Starling & Reba Addison Starling one of seven children. She was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, class of 1941. Juanita was formerly a long-time member of Southside Estates Baptist Church and currently a long-time member of Lake Shore Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the choir at the churches she attended and even had the opportunity & privilege of singing at a Billy Graham Crusade. Juanita was also an expert at crochet and her "true calling" was crocheting full-size afghans that she donated to hospice organizations. She had a true, Christian giving spirit donating her time and efforts to baking & delivering food, making visits to church & family in the hospital and as a volunteer for Community Hospice here in Jacksonville.Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Crum; a son, John Dukes; a daughter, Gloria Geeting; a son-in-law, Warren Geeting and by her siblings Margaret, Bernice, Deloras, Herman, Edward & Patty. She is survived by her children Sharon Dube (Virgil), Effie Cross (Garry) & Bill Dukes (Shirley); 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren & 2 great-great grandchildren.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2021. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service; and interment will follow the service in Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Boulevard.
