Judy Ann Richardson Becker

Mrs. Judy Ann Richardson Becker age 69, of Lawtey passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 in Lake City, Florida. Judy was born on November 22, 1946 in Independence, Iowa to the late John and Velma (Crow) Richardson and moved to Lawtey in 1976 from Jacksonville. Prior to retirement she taught at Santa Fe College as a math professor. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Starke where she served as the organist, was a choir member and past youth director. Judy enjoyed serving her community and was an active member of the Starke Kiwanis Club where she held many positions, including advisor to the Bradford Middle School Builders Club, served as Lieutenant Governor and District Chair. She Chaired the Democratic Executive Committee for 25 years and was member of the Bradford County School Board for 4 years. Her strong community commitment earned her the prestigious Santa Fe College Women of Distinction award in 2004. Along with her husband Les, she enjoyed membership with the First Coast Region Model A Club. Survivors are: her husband of 47 years Leslie "Les" Becker of Lawtey, daughter: Michelle "Micki" Boatwright of Lake City, son: Michael Becker (Pam) of Gainesville, sisters: Jane Watson of Hazelton, Iowa, Josephine "Jo" Schipper of Parkersburg, Iowa, and Jean Hilker of Spokane, Washington. Also left behind are her grandchildren, Jarret Moehl, Talia Becker and Tessa Becker. Memorial services for Judy will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF STARKE at 3:30 P.M. with Reverend Don Thompson and Reverend Mike Moore officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the Florida Kiwanis Foundation, 5545 Benchmark Lane, Sanford, FL 32773.
