JUDY J. BROUTMAN TISONJudy Jean (Broutman) Tison (69) of Gainesville, FL-beloved daughter, sister, wife, relative, friend, neighbor, and pet whisperer-passed away on December 25, 2020 at her home in Gainesville.Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, only a small number of family and friends will be gathering in person for a celebration of Judy's life. Attendees of the in-person event are asked to be in good health, wear a CDC approved face mask, and observe social distance guidelines. She will be greatly missed.Judy was born on April 14, 1951 to Carol Ann and Stanford Arthur Broutman, in the town of Muskegon, Michigan. She spent much of her childhood years playing outside and getting into (and eventually out of) trouble. In 1984 she married John "J.L." Tison, the love of her life, and together they enjoyed hiking, horseback riding, and boating. Judy carried an enormous capacity for humor, and was never one to forget a funny story.A Master's Degree holder from Stetson University in DeLand, FL, Judy was a guidance counselor at several K-16 schools throughout Alachua County, Florida and beyond. Judy devoted her energy to students, enriching the lives of countless young adults. She gave compassion freely to all those around her, and was a treasured advisor and confidant. Throughout her life, Judy challenged us all to live with more love, faith, and empathy. Her tenacity was evident through her belief in people, commitment to others, and will to live.Judy is predeceased in death by her parents (Carol Ann and Stanford Arthur Broutman) and a sister (Susan Knott).
