June Greenlee Dixon, 90, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2019. She was born in Wilmington, NC on July 9, 1928 to John and Mary Greenlee. She is predeceased by her husband, John F. Dixon whom she met in school and was happily married to for 65 years. She is survived by her children; Dr. John F. Dixon, Jr. of Dallas, TX and Jane D. Dillard of Jacksonville, FL, son-in-law Richard B. Dillard, and two grandchildren; Abby E. Dillard and Blaine D. Dillard, whom she adored and was affectionately known as "Di." She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Letha Mae Walker (Jacksonville, FL), brother-in-law, Cecil M. Dixon (Wilmington, NC), long-time neighbor, Stuart Hagerty, who was always ready to lend a helping hand, long-time friend Dr. Chris Salerno of Dallas, TX whom they shared the same birthday, and two long time teacher friends, Sue Meeks and Barbara Kuhn, who shared many lunches together. June was Presbyterian by faith and taught pre-school for 18 years at South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church. After she retired, she volunteered for 18 years in the Emergency Room at St. Lukes/Mayo Hospital. She is also survived by her dear constant little companion, Sophie, a long-haired miniature dachshund. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brooks Bartram Lakes and Community Hospice that also loved and cared for her.
