Junius "Jack" Moore Horner

Mr. Junius "Jack" Moore Horner III, age 84 of Middleburg passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Lake City V. A. Hospital. He was born October 14, 1932 in Ashville, North Carolina to the late Junius and Mary (Johnston), Jr. and had served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Following his service with the Navy, Mr. Horner became employed with the City Charleston, South Carolina as a Policeman and then Detective. He was also a Horse Trainer and a parishioner of St. Edward Catholic Church in Starke. Mr. Horner was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Florence T. Horner and a son, Matthew Horner. Survivors are his five children, Paul Horner (Tina) of Starke, John Horner (Linda) of Ocala, Marke Horner of Interlachen, Luke Horner of Daytona and Kathleen Theresa Horner of Ocala; one sister, Margaret Walker of Chapel Hill, NC; two step-sisters, Laura Lee Hartshorn of Jacksonville and Polly Turner of Ashville, NC. Also left behind are twenty grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The viewing and Rosary will both begin at 8:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Father Jan Ligeza will be presiding. Interment will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Rodeheaver Boys Ranch, 380 Boys Ranch Road, Palatka, FL 32177.
