Mr. Kenneth "Ken" Wade Carpenter, Sr. 64 a longtime resident of Keystone Heights passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023, at his home following a long illness. He was born August 27, 1958, born in Ogden, Utah to Charles and Glenda (Gerrard) Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter PROUDLY served in the United States Marine Corp retiring as a GySgt. He began a new career with the Lawtey Postal Service working as a Postal Clerk for 20 years. He attended the Am vets Post 86 in Keystone Heights, enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering in the yard, but most of all he loved hosting cookouts which alot of times lead to him sitting on the porch playing the harmonica or singing and playing his guitar. Mr. Carpenters father Charles Carpenter had preceded him in death. He does leave behind a daughter Paula McKinney (Jason) of Michigan; son Kenneth Carpenter, Jr. of Lake Butler; mother Glenda Carpenter of Palm Bay; significant other of 20 plus years Carol Ward of Keystone Heights. Also left behind are three siblings Kim Carpenter-Kreiselman (Ray) of Palm Bay, Dan Carpenter and Brett Carpenter (Nicole) and his Aunt Jan Gerrard all of Deleon Springs and Carols children Rob Ward (Tina) of Tennessee, Dale Ward (Brandy)of Wildwood, Christy Dilas (Josh) and Wilinda Gordon (Michael) all of Starke. He was lovingly called "Papa Ken" by several grand and great grandchildren. Viewing for Mr. Carpenter will held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel beginning at 5 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with his nephew Pastor Michael Connor officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Please omit flowers and make a memorial donation to the Wounded Warriors Project.
