Obituary

Kenneth Richard Fowler, 86, passed away on April 7, 2023 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Dunnellon, Florida, the only child of "Jack" and Alma Fowler. He was a resident of Jacksonville for the last 80 years. Kenneth was a man of many talents and a Master Carver who specialized in wood, but also carved shell, stone, ivory, and seeds. If it could be carved, he used it. His carving started as a hobby at the age of six and developed into a lifelong gift that touched his family, friends, and many others. His detailed work received multiple awards over the years ultimately competing at the skill level of "Master Carver." In addition, to his carving, he spent many hours digging for artifacts and old bottles. Kenneth's knowledge of Florida wildlife was second to none. His ability to fix and repair almost anything was a point of pride with him and a bonus for all the family.Kenneth is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Eleanor Lourcey Fowler and their three daughters: Cynthia F. Nettleton (Edward) of Norfolk, VA, Bonny F. Charleston of Jacksonville, FL, and Louise E.F. Roussin (Lewis) of Jacksonville, FL, as well as his son: Kenneth R. Fowler, Jr. (Anne) of Cummings, GA. He was the proud grandfather (Papa) of seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Kenneth is pre-deceased by his parents and his son-in-law, Chuck Charleston.A funeral mass for Kenneth will be held in Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Boulevard Jacksonville, FL 32207 on Thursday, April 13th at 1:00 P.M., with burial following in Greenlawn Cemetery. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service at the church.
