Obituary

Kenneth Ivan Peterson, age 86, lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2026. Born to John and Geneva (Hunt) Peterson on November 3, 1939, Ken was a truly devoted husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather, and a true friend to many. Upon graduating from Alfred I. duPont High School, class of 1957, Ken enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in California as a lifeguard. After his return home, Ken worked for Volkswagen Motors for several years before he was hired by Anheuser-Busch of Jacksonville. He made a name for himself at Anheuser and eventually worked his way up the corporate ladder to become the Plant Services Coordinator for many years, the position from which he retired. Ken was a true handyman, as anyone who asked him to do any household task would attest. He learned much of his handiwork as a young boy, just from working alongside his father. Ken was also an avid bass fisherman, and he loved spending time casting lures in the lakes of Keystone Heights. He participated in fishing tournaments sponsored by Anheuser-Busch with many friends over the years, and he was proud to teach his grandchildren how to bait a hook with a worm. Ken enjoyed traveling, especially to the north Georgia and Great Smoky Mountains. He was very much a people person, always making conversation. His family meant everything to him.

Ken is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Andrews Peterson, his brother John Peterson, and his son-in-law Scott Sheppard. Ken is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Sheppard of Jacksonville; his son, Michael Peterson (Mark) of Sterling, MA; his granddaughter Hannah Sheppard; his grandsons, Sean and Liam Peterson; his sister, Rebecca Hutson of Nocatee; his brother-in-law, Clyde Andrews (Suzanne) of Savannah, GA; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Aspire Church San Marco, 1435 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville, FL, 32207. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, February 17 at Moloney-Hewell Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd. S., under whom arrangements have been made.
