Obituary

Amsler, La Rue Emerson, 94 of Waldo passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville. La Rue was born in Greensboro, IN on September 6, 1919 and served in the US Army during WWII, in the Pacific Theatre in both the Philippines and the occupation of Japan. After the Army, La Rue spent time in California mining for Gold before moving to the Gainesville area. Larue was a machinist retiring from both Sperry Rand and The GE Battery plant in Hague.La Rue was a kind and caring man who always put others needs ahead of his own, he was a member of VFW Post 2811 and loved and cared about his family very much.La Rue was predeceased by his wife Mamie and a step-son Raymond McMillan. He is survived by a brother Frank Amsler(Mary) of Summerfield, FL, 1 niece and 2 nephews he loved very much.Funeral services for La Rue will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00am at the Forest Meadows Funeral Home Chapel, with a visitation one hour prior starting at 10:00am. Interment will follow in the Forest Meadows Memorial Park East's Military Garden of Honor. Those who wish can make donations in La Rue's memory to the Salvation Army or the Red Cross.
