Mrs. LaJuan Elizabeth Whittle, age 66 of Starke, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. She was born October 31, 1956, in Thomasville, Georgia, to the late Vinnie "Leroy" and Nancy (Morgan) Shouppe. Mrs. Whittle worked in various departments with the City of Starke before retiring as an Administrative Assistant with the Starke Police Department. She enjoyed gardening and loved her animals, but most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. LaJuan leaves behind her devoted and loving husband of 50 years, J.W. Whittle, and their two children, Christine Collins (Wyatt) of Starke and J.D. Whittle of Lake Butler, along with a sister, Frances Keeney (Sidney) of Starke. She was also lovingly called "Nana" by Wyatt Collins, Jr. (Brandi), Wade Collins (Hunter), Emma Whittle, her great-grandsons Cash Collins, Coy Collins, Boone Collins, and soon-to-be Clay Collins. Nephews, Dennis Montgomery (Stephanie), Sid Keeney II, and a niece Denise Clemons, and three great-nephews. We cannot forget her loving "fur babies" Chewy and Luna. A Celebration of LaJuans life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel with Mr. Johnny Frampton officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to your local animal shelter in memory of LaJuan.
