Lamar Thornton

Mr. Lamar Thornton age 76, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at Shands UF following an extended illness. Mr. Thornton was born on July 21, 1938 in Jacksonville to the late Dennis and Ruby Bryant Thornton and was a lifelong area resident. Lamar retired from the Union County Housing Authority as a maintenance worker in 1999, and attended Bible Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son James Doyle Thornton and his daughter Judy Fran Thornton. Survivors are: his wife Willie Mae (Lawrence) Thornton, sons: Russell Lamar Thornton (Patricia) and Joseph Edward Thornton all of Starke, daughters: Catherine Louise Waters and Mary Marie Beck (Russell) all of Keystone Heights. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
