Laura Jane Turner was born in Jasper, Alabama, and raised in Amory, Mississippi, by her parents, Gilbert and Melba Sanford.

Independent from an early age, she carried a strong work ethic and quiet determination throughout her life. Though she lived in Texas for much of her life, her heart always belonged to Amory, Mississippi, the place she called home.

Laura passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Laura was the loving mother of Jeffrey Turner, whom she proudly raised, and the mother of Steven Sanford. She was also a cherished mother-in-law to Misty Turner; a proud grandmother to Meagan Turner, married to Patrick; Corey Turner, married to Jade; and Makenzie Turner; and a great-grandmother to Addilyn, Charlotte, and Dallas, with another great-grandchild, Jace, expected to join the family soon.

She attended nursing school early on and later built a respected career in the hospitality industry, most recently serving as Head of Housekeeping for Marriott

She found joy in reading, attending church, and cooking for her family. Laura will be remembered for her independence, kindness, and deep devotion to those she loved. Her legacy lives on through her family and the many lives she touched. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Clay Hill Church of God of Prophecy, 5845 County Road 218, Jacksonville, FL 32234 at 6:30 PM.
