Mr. Leaton Aaron "Buddy" Mathews, Sr. age 81 of Starke passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Haven Hospice E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville. Buddy was born on June 16, 1943, in Clydeville, Georgia to the late Pete and Emylen (Supernaut) Mathews and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of Highland First Baptist Church where he found great joy singing in the choir. Prior to retirement Buddy worked as a self-employed truck driver. He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Haynes) Mathews of Starke, daughter, Terri Harrison of Starke, son, Leaton "Aaron" Mathews, Jr., (Denise) of Starke, stepdaughters, Christina Cole (James) of Macclenny, Katie Chapman of Jacksonville, grandchildren, Dylan Harrison, Shawn Glisson, Alexis Shealey, Dakota Mathews, Cheyenne Morris, Harley Morris, and Christian Cole. He also left behind nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Buddy was certainly treasured and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
