Lee Taveras Barr, affectionately known as Lee, was born on October 12, 1980 in Miami, Florida. Lee died at his home at the age of 43 in Gainesville, Florida on April 18, 2024 after a courageous fight with throat cancer. Antionette (his mother) moved to Gainesville, Florida, when Lee was two years of age. Lee loved his siblings very much and they often went on adventures together around Gainesville and enjoyed many family picnics and reunions. Lee graduated from Buchholz High School in Gainesville. He was a very good student and upon graduation from high school, he attended Santa Fe Community College for a short while. Afterwards, Lee began his career at UF Health Alachua General Hospital (AGH) on February 14, 1999 as a Food and Nutrition Assistant and was later promoted to be a Cook. In September 2001, Lee transferred to the Medical Records Department at AGH. Lees strong work ethic, dependability and with an all-around great personality, he continued to be promoted into other roles in Medical Records at UF Health Shands. These comments were made by Lees coworkers: "Lee leaves a big hole in the HIM Department at UF Health". "Lee was the most kind, caring, dependable and sincere person we have had the pleasure of working with". "Lee gained exceptional knowledge in computers." He also helped family members with computer issues. "His computer skills were outstanding, building his own gaming system". "Lee was a gentle giant, quiet in nature, soft spoken and profound in his conversations." Our family is grateful for the time we spent with Lee and the memories of him will remain with us. Lee leaves behind his mother Antionette Barr Mack, his father, Anthony Scott Sr., siblings Natasha Scott, Anthony Scott Jr., and Sheree Scott, his grandmother Beatrice Rayford, his great-grandmother Mamie Scott, and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, cousins, nieces and friends. We will all miss Lee very much! The visitation will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Forest Meadows Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Forest Meadows Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a private burial.
