Obit: Lela Ruth LewisMrs. Lela Ruth Lewis, 88, of Keystone Heights died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Crestwood Nursing Home in Palatka following an extended illness. Mrs. Lewis was born on April 22, 1921 in Hollis, Kansas to the late Hugh B. and Edna E. (Lesher) Nye. Prior to moving to Keystone Heights, Mrs. Lewis lived in Palm Valley where she was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church and a homemaker. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her children: Jacqueline Garner and Marshall (Frances) Sullivan all of Keystone Heights; James (Sharol) Sullivan of Wichita, KA; Thomas S. (Karen) Lewis of Jacksonville; a sister Mildred (Virgil) Murphy of Keats, KS. 14 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, and many nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Lewis; daughters, Linda Drawdy & Elizabeth Merle Lewis; granddaughter, Jennifer Merle Lewis. Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, May 16th in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jim Prose officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 11 oclock. Graveside services will be held at 11 oclock on Monday, May 18th at the Arlington Cemetery in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Bldg. Fund, 550 E. Walker Dr. Keystone Heights, FL 32656, or the United Pentecostal Church, Hwy 19, Palatka, FL 32177. Arrangements are being held under the care of JONES-GALLAGHER Funeral Home, 340 E.
