Lemuel Sellers Williams died at home, surrounded by his family on Monday, May 28th in Middle Torch Key, Florida. He was 84. Lemuel is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jackie Prevatt Williams, daughters Kathy (Jed) Simon and Patti (Brian) Boylan, three grandchildren, Kaci (Paul) Pope, Kady Boylan and Tyler Boylan and sisters, Jean (Ken) Martin and Sue Winkler. He was preceded in death by his son Darryl Williams, his parents the Rev. Lemuel S. and Carrie Williams and his brothers, James Williams and Roger Williams.Lemuel was born December 21, 1933 in Braganza, Georgia. Upon graduation from Bradford High School in 1952 he served in the infantry of the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning home he attended the University of Florida before joining the Merchant Marines. Later he worked for the Florida State Prison system and the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Georgia, California, Connecticut and Miami, Florida. After retiring from Corrections he worked at the Turkey Point Nuclear plant. He and Jackie loved to fish so much they made their final retirement to Middle Torch Key where he became a commercial fisherman.Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday June 2 at 9:00 a.m. in the Dewitt C. Jones Chapel at Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home in Starke. Interment will follow at Prevatt Cemetery.
