Leonard Charles Young born May 19, 1941 in Steubenville, Ohio, died June 4, 2024 in Gainesville, Florida. He was the son of the late Lucy Buono Young and Leonard James Young of Weirton, West Virginia. He was an active member of Saint William Catholic Church in Keystone Heights, Florida. As a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10572, he was appointed Director of Pro-Life activities. He was a courageous advocate of all unborn children.He graduated from Madonna High School in Weirton, West Virginia, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Vincent College, Latrobe, Pennsylvania. In the 37 years he was a teacher, he taught all 12 grades but his absolute favorite were his fourth grade students many of whom he maintained a life-long relationship.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Ann Donohue Young. Two sons Leonard Jude Young and Eric Thoms Young of Keystone Heights, Florida, two daughters Marlanne Young if New York City, New York and Laura Francette Griffiths of Orrtanna, Pennsylvania. Three grandchildren Claudia, Evan, and Bennett. Two brothers, David S. Young of Churchton, Maryland and Robert of Follansbee, West Virginia.Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 15 at 11:00am at Saint William Catholic Church. A reception will be held after Mass in the Church Hall.
