Leroy Elliott Munro

LeRoy Elliott Munro, 75, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019. Leroy was born on May 7, 1943 in Port Huron, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired as a Police Lieutenant with the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office.LeRoy touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity and maintained his cheerful spirit throughout his life. He would help anyone in need and cared deeply for his family.LeRoy is predeceased by one brother Melvin (Barbara) and one son, Donald. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Nancy; one sister, Emma, his brothers, Eugene (Marilyn) and Ronald (Carolyn). Leroy is also survived by four children; Jon (Gisela) Thompson, William (Donna) Thompson, Lee Elliott (Manatsanun) Munro and Sheri Thomason. LeRoy is also survived by six grandchildren: Connor, Ryan, Amber, Joshua, Tyler and Philippa.A visitation will be held on Thursday February 28, 2019 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South.A graveside service, with honors provided by the United States Marine Corps and Jacksonville Sheriffs Office, will be held Friday March 1, 2019 at 12:30 pm at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road with Chaplain Clarence Jarrell officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in LeRoy's name to American Cancer Society to help fight Myelofibrosis disease or to American Heart Association..Receiving FriendsGeorge H.
