Leroy Albert Sweat Leroy Albert Sweat passed into Gods Glory on November 2, 2011, at the Hadlow Center of N.E. Florida Community Hospice following a brief battle with cancer. Leroy was born July 26, 1922 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the son of Roy Sweat and Tyona Mallory Sweat. He attended local schools and later enlisted in the U. S. Navy, serving during World War II. On June 10, 1951, he married Pearl Herndon Bray, who predeceased him on October 1, 2008. This year would have been their 60th anniversary. He was also predeceased by both parents as well as his sister, Faye Sweat Ford. Leroy is survived by his son, William Bill Sweat (Susan) and his daughter, Lynette D. Stephens (Leon), his grandchildren, Brian K. Stephens (fiancee, Tammy Fletcher), Shelley D. Stephens Smith (Donnie), and Kevin W. Sweat; his great-grandchildren, Conner L. Stephens, Emily D. Smith, and Walker T. Smith, as well as his soon to be step-great-grandchildren, Hunter & Taylor Fletcher, & a brother-in-law, Earl Buddy Herndon (Betty-deceased) along with many other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at l:00 P.M. Monday, November 7th in the chapel of George Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South in Jacksonville. Pastor Gregg Bennett of Journey Church in Ponte Vedra will officiate.
