Lew Mazzarella left us on Thursday, November 30 , 2023 at the age of 87. To honor Lews memory, we are holding a Celebration Of His Life Mass on December 16, 2023 at 11:00AM. The service will be held atSt. Patricks Catholic Church in Gainesville, Florida. We invite anyone who knew him to attend and remember his wonderful life.Lew was born on June 1,1936 to Lewis and Anna Mazzarella in Schenectady, New York. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and went on to spent time at the University of Iowa and SienaCollage and was a Corporal in the United States Army.On October 21,1961 he married his beloved wife, Susan. In 1968 they and her Mother, Winnie Stiles moved to warm sunny Florida where they went on to adopt their daughter LuAnn in the same year.They eventually settled in Gainesville in 1977 where they remained throughout his life. Lew was active throughout his years with Saint Patricks Church and School, a member of the Board of Directors forCatholic Charites, 4H, the Knights of Columbus as well as the Gainesville Community Playhouse. He owned his own wholesale food business and in his retirement years started a courier service.Lew was predeceased by his parents Lewis and Anna Mazzarella, Sister, Gloria and husband Joseph Calarco, and his Aunt Viola and Uncle Joe Sidoli. He is survived by his wife, Susan Mazzarella, daughter LuAnn Carter, husband Michael. He has 3 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Dougherty, husband Sean, Zackary Carter, wife Kassidy, and Curtis Carter, wife Samantha. He has 7 great grandchildren, Allison and Emma Dougherty, Brayden, Layana and Emryn Carter and Michael and Ethan Carter. Also surviving are his nieces JoAnn Calarco and Gloria Martinson.
