Mrs. Lillian Neill Marsteller age 102, of Penney Farms passed away Friday, December 24, 2010. Mrs. Marsteller was born on April 30, 1908 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Emil and Elizabeth Miich Haagen and was a Lutheran. At age four she contracted polio and was disabled throughout her childhood. In her adolescent years she had surgery that gave her the ability to get around without a crutch. She loved swimming and with her parents enjoyed going to the New Jersey shore for summer outings. She was an accomplished pianist and in 1960 she married Thomas J. Neill who died in 1968. Lillian worked in Collection Correspondence for Sears and Lutheran Publication House prior to retirement. She moved to Penney Farms in 1975 and married Cledith Ted Marsteller whom she met at Penney Retirement Center. They enjoyed traveling in the US visiting Teds family including his daughters and grandchildren. They also took a trip to Europe. Ted passed away in 1983 and Lillian took up painting and became skillful in oil painting. A number of her paintings are hanging in various locations throughout Penney Farms. She is survived by her step children; step grandchildren, and cousins. Interment for Mrs. Marsteller will be on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Penney Farms Cemetery with memorial services beginning at 1:00 PM in the Hagen Care Center located in the Penney Retirement Center.
