Obituary

Lillie Mae Horne, 88, passed away on Friday February 13, 2015 in Jacksonville. A Jacksonville native, Mae was born on August 2, 1926 to Joseph & Carolyn McCall. Mae attended Andrew Jackson High School and was a member of the Jackson Jills. Mae was also a longtime member of Franklin Street Baptist Church and retired after a 32 year career with Atlantic National Bank where she served as a loan officer. Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Velma Cecil "Pug" Horne, her three brothers and two of her sisters. She is survived by her son, Stephen C. Horne (Betsy); her twin sister, Dean Moore; 2 granddaughters, Rebecca Richmond & Rachael McMenamy; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday February 17, 2015 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. with Dr. Terry Gore of Franklin Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday February 16 at the funeral home.
