Mrs. Linda Mae (Taylor) Alvarez of Melrose passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023. Linda was born on January 25, 1941, to the late Fred and Willie (Crawford) Taylor. She grew up in Glen St. Mary and attended Baker County High School. Prior to retirement, she worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield. In her seventies, she volunteered at the Melrose Library. She was unique, vibrant, and friendly, loved laughing and talking to people, was always on the go, and never met a stranger. A deep love for her family and close friends lived through her lighthearted exterior. She loved being outside, working in her yard, collecting wildflower seeds and anything alongside the love of her life, Oscar Wayne. She is known for her delicious pound cake, which she would make and give to everyone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Oscar Wayne Alvarez, and brother, Fred Taylor, Jr. Survivors are daughters: Tammy Alvarez Cook (Fred Cook) of Melrose, Debra Alvarez Cooper of Dinsmore, brother, Edward Taylor (Sonya Payton Taylor) of Okeechobee. Also left is her grandson, Cooper Wiedeman. Her brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Kay Alvarez, Dottie Alvarez, Dan and Earlene Alvarez of Keystone Heights, Harold Stephens of Youngstown, FL, as well as nieces and nephews.Interment will be at a later date in Crosby Lake Cemetery.Arrangements are by Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home of Keystone Heights 352-473-3176 www.jonesgallagherfh.com.
