Lois Fae Parker ReedA sweet woman, kind neighbor, devoted wife and mother, Lois Parker Reed, diedSeptember 24, 2022. She succumbed to complications related to congestiveheart failure. She died at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida, surrounded withthe love of her family and close friends. She was 94 years old.Lois was born at home on March 6, 1928, to Frederick M. Parker and Ida MarieHasenmeyer in Spencer County Indiana. She grew up on a farm in rural southernIndiana. She had two older sisters, Alice and Helen. She attended Chrisney HighSchool and graduated in 1945. After high school, she began a career at theGeneral Electric Plant in Tell City, Indiana. There, she met her future husband andbest friend, Arthur L. Reed. Lois and Art were married in 1948 and lived togetherhappily for 68 years.Lois and Art moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1966. Lois raised her three childrenand began a career at Sears, where she became a Division Manager for LadiesFashions. She worked there for 17 years before retiring in 1985 at the age of 57.Lois and Art enjoyed living at Turkey Creek in Alachua, Florida and they enjoy theirsummer homes in Boone, North Carolina and Santa Claus, Indiana.Lois was known for being kind and sweet to everyone who knew her. She wasloved and admired by her family, neighbors, and coworkers. Lois loved Jesus andhad a strong Christian faith. She and Art were lifelong members of Trinity UnitedMethodist Church in Gainesville.Lois took great pride in her home. She was a wonderful cook, baker,housekeeper, interior decorator, and seamstress. She made clothes for herchildren, including her daughter's wedding dress. She loved doing needlework,including crochet, embroidery, and cross-stitch. She created many beautifultreasures in her lifetime. She was happiest at home taking care ofothers-especially her husband. She and Art had many opportunities to travel.They also were avid card players. In her later years, she treasured the company ofher little dog, Chico.Lois was preceded in death by her parents and two older sisters. Her husbandArthur died in 2017. She is survived by her three children; Cathie (Thomas) Hiteof Evansville, Indiana; David Reed; and Cristie (Bill) Mosblech, of Valrico, Florida;nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Memorial Service will be held:Monday, October 17, 202210:00 AM (Viewing at 10:00 followed by service at 10:30)Trinity United Methodist Church Chapel4000 NE 53rd AvenueGainesville, Florida 32653Her ashes, along with her husband'sashes, will be interred at a later time, in Greenwood Cemetery, Tell City, Indiana.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity United MethodistChurch, 4000 NW 53 rd Avenue, Gainesville, Florida, 32653.
