Lonnie Eugene Jordan, 91, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at McGraw Community Hospice in Jacksonville, FL.He was born June 7, 1931 in Waycross, GA and moved to Jacksonville from Dixie Union, GA with his family around 1942. He was a veteran of the United States Army, retired from the United States Post Office in 1978 and was a Past Master of Duval Lodge #159 F. & A.M. He will be remembered for many things, but most of all his love of (and for) family, creativity, industriousness, tenacity in all endeavors, warmness, generous personality, and impatience at barbecue restaurants.He is preceded in death by his parents, Elder Thomas Mathew Jordan and Idell Turner Jordan of Dixie Union; brother, Mullis Monroe Jordan and sister-in-law, Evelyn Beasley Jordan; sister, Velma Corinne Barber and brother-in-law, Jasper "Jack" Barber.His memory lives on through his beloved wife of 65 years, Christa Furthmller Jordan; sister, Clara Marie Hayes (James Hayes); son, Kennith Melvin Jordan; daughters Linda Greene (David Greene) and DeAwna Wallace (Phillip Wallace); as well as three generations of grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His great laugh and enthusiasm for life will be missed.Visitation will be at George H. Hewell Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd. S. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Englewood Christian Church, 4316 Barnes Rd. S., Jacksonville, FL. Burial to follow at Chapel Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends afterward at Englewood Christian Church Fellowship Hall.
