Lorraine Sgueglia Harris, 85, born October 16,1934 in Boston, Massachusetts moved to Jacksonville, Florida when she was a small child passed away November 3, 2019 late Sunday evening.She was a member at Women of the Moose, The Knights of Columbus and the Beach Bop club a dancing organization. In her younger years She was the tomboy of the family being a daredevil on her bicycle and climbing trees and playing basketball on the girls basketball team at Landon high School. Also being a member of the majorettes at Landon.She loved to hang out with her father in his furniture shop learning how to do woodwork he was a carpenter by trade and an artist. She also was an artist and could Draw or paint you just as you look and she enjoyed teaching her great grandchildren how to draw. Mother loved to skate as she called it dancing on wheels, and when we were small children she would take us skating almost every night of the week at Skateland in San Marco.One Christmas when she was very young her father had an old baby grand piano In his workshop he was refinishing, Mother asked him who the piano was for grandpa replied its for a very special person and gave it to her Christmas she learned how to play the piano beautifully and Had a wonderful singing voice, I can still hear her singing Ave Maria while sitting at her table top piano as she grew older, she loved all kinds of music we would have music playing in the house all the time when we were children. She was a fantastic cook giving every dish her Italian spice, everyone enjoyed her spaghetti and meatballs that was her signature dish Along with too many to mention our Mother was a whip in the kitchen to say the least.Mother had a wonderful heart she instilled in us to treat others as we too would want to be treated Always be true to oneself. And live by Gods word.Our Mother had a wonderful laugh and a beautiful smile, for her senior year book picture the caption underneath read, she has a smile that wont erase were always glad to see her cheerful face.For those of you that had the pleasure of meeting our Mother knows how this rings so true.She now joins her father John Joseph Sgueglia, Mother Josephine, Sisters Joan, Barbara and Linda and our oldest sibling her first born child Pamela Jean Houstoun our Pammy. I know they are all gathered around the big supper table catching up on old times and enjoying each others company and love once again. Dancing in the heavens.Survived in life by her five children her youngest child Mary Wright husband Walter. Sons John Houstoun wife Susan, Edward Houstoun wife Linda, Stephen Houstoun and James Houstoun. 20 Grand Children and 17 Great Grandchildren.The family will receive friends in George H.Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd South, Jacksonville, FL 32216 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM on November 26, 2019. Following, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207 at 1:30 pm with Fr. Michael J. Larkin as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.Family would like to give thanks for all the prayers love and support in our time of need..Receiving FriendsGeorge H.
