Lucille Stephens Cooke

Lucille Stephens Cooke, 93, of Keystone Heights went to be with the Lord on September 16, 2017. She was born in Folkston, GA on August 26, 1924 to the late W. Garland Stephens and Minnie T. Stephens. She grew up in Jacksonville, graduating from Robert E. Lee High School. In 1944 she married James D. Cooke, and together they resided in Jacksonville raising their 4 daughters. In 1977 they moved to their Lake Brooklyn home in Keystone Heights. Besides being a homemaker and actively serving both in Murray Hill Baptist Church in Jacksonville, and then First Baptist of Keystone, Lucille loved meeting others whether selling Avon, or volunteering at Haven Hospice Thrift Store in Gainesville, and Lake Area Ministries. Most of all, she loved the Lord, her family, church, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jim Cooke; brother, Norman (Smoky) Stephens; and sister, Juanita Johns. She is survived by her 4 loving daughters; Kaye (Martin) McRoberts of Young Harris, GA; Carol (Robert) Ainsworth of Keystone Heights; Candi (Rob) Caulk of The Villages, FL; and Kellye (John) McCormick of Keystone Heights. Also her brother, Garland L. Stephens of Tampa; sister-in-law, Marilyn Stephens of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. We, her family, "do arise and call her blessed." Proverbs 31A Celebration of Lucilles Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Keystone Heights with Pastor Daniel Findley officiating. A private graveside service will follow at Keystone Heights Cemetery.
