Lucille DeLaura Gross, 84, of Newberry, Florida, passed away at Haven Hospice in Gainesville on July 20, 2023. She was born on April 23, 1939, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Joseph and Anna DeLaura. Lucille was a beloved Fort White/Newberry community member for the last 28 years. Before moving to North Florida, Lucille lived most of her adult life in Miami and Pembroke Pines, Florida. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.Lucille is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Ludwig W. Gross of Newberry, FL; her daughters, Corrie Gross (Greg Engleberg) and Kimberly Gross, also of Newberry, FL; her sister Joyce A. Hancock, of Newberry, FL, and her two grandchildren Max (13) and Carly (19). She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Joseph and Anna DeLaura of Miami, FL.During her lifetime, Lucille worked in the Insurance Industry her entire adult life and retired when she moved to Fort White, Florida, in 1995. Lucille was a devoted housewife and mother, supporting her husband, children, and the many cousins who traveled to North FL over the years. Lucille was a dedicated member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Pembroke Pines, Florida, and in later years at Epiphany Catholic Church in Lake City, FL. As a lifelong, devoted Catholic, Lucille was a part of the RCIA, Divine Mercy Prayer group, and Grief/Death and Dying Prayer and Hospitality groups.In her free time, Lucille enjoyed cooking and entertaining with her husband and children and hosted family and friends for memorable dinners. She was known for her delicious Italian cooking on most family holidays.A private funeral service for the family will be held at Forest Meadows Funeral Home and Cemetery, Gainesville, Florida.
