Luise Agnes Grohe Lucas was born in Kaiserslautern, Germany, March 24, 1924, and passed away peacefully on June 18, 2017. She is preceded in death her husband, Stanley M. Lucas, Her parents, Friedrich and Elfriede Hildegard Grohe, and sister, Hildegard Grohe Weis. She grew up in Kaiserslautern and had a wonderful childhood. She was 14 years old when World War II broke out and experienced six years of wartime in Kaiserslautern until 1945.After the war she met Stanley M. Lucas of Boston, Massachusetts, while he was stationed with the Army in Weinheim, Germany. He became the love of her life and she joined him in Boston, where they were married on July 17, 1948. They were married for 55 years until his passing on March 23, 2003. For the first 22 years of marriage they were stationed in various places in the United States and Panama while Stanley was in the Army. He retired and the family moved to Gainesville in 1963. Luise is survived by her two children, James M. Lucas (Roberta), and Pamela A. Chorlog (Jeff), four grandchildren, Ryan, Jennifer, Jeremy, and Justin, and three great-grandchildren, Collin, Rilyn, and Julia. Luise was a homemaker, active in the Shands Auxiliary for 21 years and enjoyed spending time with her family, both here and abroad, and traveling with her husband. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Her funeral will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church on June 23 at 9:30am. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Stanley, at Forest Meadows Military Guardian of Honor.
