Mrs. Mable B. Howard age 96, formerly of Florahome passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Atria of San Pablo in Jacksonville. She was born in Lake City on December 23, 1921 to the late Oscar William and Minnie Lee (Turner) Norris. Mrs. Howard was a homemaker and had been a resident of Florahome since 1974, before moving to Jacksonville a few years ago. She was also a member of Oak Avenue Baptist Church in Florahome and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her first husband of 49 years Lewis Marshall Bowen and then her 2nd husband of 23 years James "Jimmy" Howard; ten brothers and sisters; sons-in-law Bob Dickinson and Larry Anders. Her survivors are her children, Marsha Carolyn Bowen Ellis (Walker) of Fort Lauderdale, Charlotte Gail Bowen Lewis (Travis) of Greenville, North Carolina, Daniel Lewis Bowen (Linda) and Shirley Denise Bowen Dickinson all of Jacksonville; step-children; Donald Howard (Holly) of Brandon and Deborah Anders of Tampa. Also left behind are grandchildren, Reed Ellis (Tracy) of Fort Lauderdale, Ryan Marshall Ellis (Summer) of Richmond Hills, Georgia, Renee Leigh Ellis McHugh (Thomas) of Fort Lauderdale, Rob Wesley Ellis (Amy) of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Africa, Melissa Gail Lewis Cherry (Cecil) of Washington, North Carolina, Mary Kathryn Dumont (John) of Lakeland, and Kimberly Denise Stiles (Scott) of Neptune Beach; step-grandchildren, Donya Anders of Dunedin, Lauren Himmlberger (Justin) of Wesley Chapel, Melissa Howard and Elizabeth Howard both of Brandon and nineteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Howard also leaves behind her sisters in -law, Susan Howard and Ida Mae Norris Taylor both of Lake City along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Mable had a very large family and loved to be surrounded by them. Funeral services for Mrs. Howard will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Town and Country Funeral Home Chapel, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Interment will immediately follow in the Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the services beginning.
