Madeline "Mabel" Carben Madeline Mabel Carben 65, of Jacksonville passed away May 30, 2013. Born April 16, 1948 in Lakeland, Florida, she was the daughter of Roy and Gwendolyn Carben. A member of the First Coast Baptist Church, she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1968, attended Florida Junior College studying Practical Nursing, and received her LPN on January 1, 1969. Mabel retired from Shands Hospital in 2000 after faithfully serving the community for 32 years as a Trauma and Operating Room Surgical Technician. She was much loved by her co-workers at Shands/UF, Chamber of Commerce at Jacksonville Airport, VIP Parking and Civic Auditorium, Central Parking, Baush & Lomb, Kingfish Tournament, and the City of Jacksonville Sports Authority. NASCAR, the Florida Gators, the Jaguars, and traveling were her passion. Mabel is survived by her mother Gwendolyn Downs Carben, loving cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her father Roy Carben. The family would like to thank all those that contributed their comfort and compassion. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at George H. Hewell and Son Northside Chapel, 4747 Main St. where funeral services will be held 11;00 AM Monday with Rev. Richard Edwards officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 PM in Orange Cemetery in Suwanee County, near Live Oak, Florida. Cards of Condolence may be sent to Gwen Carben, P. O.
