Manuel Guillermo
Aguilera
Jan 31, 1940 — Jun 17, 2025
Manuel Guillermo Aguilera, 85, of Melrose, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 17th,
2025. Born in Banes Oriente, Cuba, on January 31st, 1940. He was the son of the late Manuel
Guillermo Aguilera-Guach and Alicia Maria Abraham-Chediak.
Manuel was a man of remarkable intentionality, purpose, and a tenacious spirit. Arriving
from Cuba as a teenager, he bravely forged a new life in a new country, demonstrating
incredible resilience, intelligence, and a lifelong dedication to hard work. This was evident in his
meticulous care for his home and yard, maintained in pristine condition for over 65 years.
He will be remembered for his joyful presence and unwavering zest for life. At 85, he
would go out dancing every week, keeping his mind sharp and his body moving while charming
everyone on the dance floor with his salsa skills. His greatest joy was hosting family gatherings,
especially his legendary birthday feasts, where his ultimate happiness came from simply having
everyone together. He diligently kept a paper calendar, ensuring birthday cards were sent to all
his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always looking forward to their special
days and proud of his ever-growing family.
He is survived by his children, Beverly Driscoll, Diana Aguilera, Alicia Bressack, and
Manuel (Buddy) Aguilera; siblings; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces,
nephews, and dear friends. He joins in passing his father, his mother, and his brother.
Manuel's legacy is one of living a long, good life, making the best of what you've got, and
savoring every moment. He taught us, often through his actions and sometimes his unsolicited
advice, to embrace life fully and appreciate family. The outpouring of love from family and
friends in his final days underscored the deep connections he fostered, affirming he died happy,
proud, and surrounded by love, leaving behind a profound legacy and big shoes to fill.
