Margaret Browning, following an extended illness, passed away February 7, 2016 inAthens, Georgia just a few months shy of her 100th birthday. Born on April 25, 1916 inSpokane, Washington, her parents, Alexandra "Sandra" and Erik Lundin, were fromSweden. Margaret attended Washington State University where she was a member ofthe Chi Omega Sorority. After working a short time in Spokane, Margaret moved to SanFrancisco just before WWII and worked in the business department of a car dealership.In San Francisco she met her future husband, Dr. John Rogers Browning, at a USOdance in 1945 and after a brief courtship was married that same year and moved toJacksonville, Florida where Dr. Browning set up his medical practice. Margaret was theoffice manager of her husband's urological practice until her retirement. While living inJacksonville, Margaret and Dr. Browning enjoyed the north Georgia mountains andspent many Summer and Fall months in Blairsville, GA. She was an active member ofthe South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, the Jacksonville Women's Garden Cluband was Secretary of the Duval County Women's Medical Auxiliary for many years.Margaret was also an avid bridge player. After 62 years in Jacksonville, Margaret movedto Arbor Terrace in Athens in 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. JohnRogers Browning, her parents, her brother, Arthur Lundin and her nephew, John Lundin.She is survived by her children, daughter Sandra and husband Bob Boyd, Athens, GA,daughter Barbara Browning, Dunwoody, GA, son John and wife Fran Browning,Blairsville, GA and her grandchildren, Molly Browning and Kathryn Browning, Raleigh,NC and Stephanie and her husband Benjamin Albritton, Hickory, NC and several niecesand nephews.The family would like to thank the staff of Arbor Terrace of Athens for the care andassistance given to Margaret since 2007 and the recent care provided by Care toContinue and Gentevia Hospice.A graveside service will be held at the Oaklawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL at 10 am onSaturday, February 13, 2016.In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Georgia Chapter Alzheimers andDementia Foundation Inc. www.alz.org/georgia, the Wounded Warrior Project -www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate or the USO - www.uso.org/donateFuneral arrangements are under the direction of George H.
