Margaret L. Van Ness, known to family and friends as Maggie, died peacefully on August 13, 2025 at the age of 104. Maggie was born and raised in Sanford where her parents, Alfred and Freda Van Ness, owned a farm. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1938 and attended the Florida State College for Women. Maggie and her sister, Katherine, worked at Southern Bell for many years. After the death of their father, they would care for their mother at their home in Lakewood.

Maggie was preceded in death by her sister and brother, Parker Van Ness. She is survived by two nephews; three great nephews; one great niece; and three great grandnieces.

At the request of the deceased and family, funeral arrangements are private with interment at Greenlawn Cemetery.
