Margaret Elaine Michaud, 92, of Gainesville, FL passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Haven Hospice ET York Care Center in Gainesville. Born on October 1, 1928 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania to parents Warren Monismith and Bertha Kepner Monismith, Margaret and her husband moved to Gainesville to be closer to her husband's friends and family.Margaret grew up on an apple and peach orchard with 9 other siblings. Her father worked on the orchard and she enjoyed canning peaches and making apple butter with an old fashion butter churn. Being one of the older siblings, Margaret helped her mother care for her younger brothers and sisters. She would tell tales of her brothers and sisters having snowball fights creating snow bombs from snowballs dipped in water. One of her first jobs was ironing clothes at a laundry mat. She loved to iron and would never let any of her grandchildren leave the house without looking neatly dressed. She "pressed" many of her grandson's shirts to easily stand up on their own. She also worked for over 25 years at Alachua General Hospital where she developed lifelong friendships.Throughout her life, she felt a strong connection to family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She loved being with family and spending time at baseball games, cross country meets, and piano recitals. Her love for football could be heard throughout the house with her boisterous cheering and rooting on her favorite teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Florida Gators.Margaret was strong in her Christian faith and believed in helping others. She was a member of the McIntosh Presbyterian Church where she continued to be a service to the community. She led an amazing life and her legacy will be carried out through her caring and generous grandchildren and great grandchildren.Margaret is preceded in death by one son, Roger Wayne Maryhew, and nine brothers and sisters. Ms. Margaret is survived by three grandchildren, Michelle Williams (Michael), Tavis Maryhew, and Jarrett Maryhew; three great-grandsons, Tanner, Blake, and Chris and many cherished nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Slaton, doctor and friend, for his loving care over the years. We would also like to thank the staff at ET York Care Center for their dignified and compassionate care over the past week.A Celebration of Margaret's life will be held on Saturday, August 28 at Forest Meadows Funeral Home located at 725 NW 23rd Avenue Gainesville, FL at 11 AM.
