Mrs. Margaret Irene Maggie Shepherd Miller age 98, passed away at Windsor Manor Nursing Home on Wednesday March 14, 2012. Mrs. Miller was born on September 10, 1913 in Monticello, Florida to the late Ira and Annie Belle (Chapman) Shepherd. In 1946, Mrs. Miller moved to Starke from Denver, CO and prior to retirement she was the Executive Vice President for Community State Bank. Maggie was very active in her community and St. Marks Episcopal Church. She was an avid bridge player, a member of two Red Hat Society groups, and a life member of the Shands at Starke Womans Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years George Edward Miller and brothers Ira P. Shepherd, II and Jack Shepherd. Survivors are her son; Jack E. Miller (Pat) of Jacksonville, brother; Charles Shepard (Jean) of Tampa, grandsons; James P. Miller of Starke, and Scott W. Miller (Roxanne) of Jacksonville, great grandchildren; George Jeffery Miller, Jennifer Margaret Miller both of Jacksonville, Justin L. Miller, and Madelyn Eileen Miller both of Memphis, TN, several nieces & nephews, close friends & care givers; Norma Jean Martin, Sharon Bennett, and many friends. An open hours viewing for Mrs. Miller will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home. A reception with the family will follow at St. Marks Episcopal Church from 6-9 PM. Graveside funeral services will be in Crosby Lake Cemetery on Tuesday morning, March 20, 2012 at 11 oclock with Father Dennis ONeill officiating.
