Obituary

Margarete Frieda Schroeder Bedell Henschel, age 94, of Keystone Heights, Florida moved to her heavenly home trusting Jesus as her Savior on July 8, 2024 at the Haven E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville. Born on May 22, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland, Margarete was the second daughter of Hermann and Grete (Kroger) Schroeder, who immigrated from Schleswig-Holstein, Germany the year before. Margarete graduated from Dundalk High School in 1947 and worked in her fathers bakery until she married her first husband, William A. Bedell, Jr. in 1951. They moved to Orlando, Florida in 1956 and had three children together. In 1964, Marge, as her friends called her, married her second husband, Floyd E. Henschel and a daughter was born to them in Maryland. They made a final move to Keystone Heights in 1967. Marge was an incredible stay-at-home mother, a Girl Scout leader for 50 years, went to work at Watsons Grocery Store in 1973 and retired from Millers Supermarket in 1995. She loved sewing, crafting, stamp collecting, camping, genealogy research and Gator sports. But her greatest joy and pride were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Marge was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Dave Davis, and niece Marliesel Roy. She is survived by her children Susan (David) Stanley, of Keystone Heights, Linda Bedell of Cocoa, Florida, Richard Bedell of Atlanta, Georgia and Nancy Blackall of Keystone Heights, grandchildren Scott (Amanda) Blackall of St. Johns, Florida, Bryan (Hannah) Blackall of Birmingham, Alabama, Gina (Eric) Martin of Keystone Heights, Evan (Crystal) Stanley, Katie Stanley, Timothy Stanley and Kimberley Stanley, all of Keystone Heights and Deborah Stanley of Tallahassee, great-grandchildren Paige and Payton Blackall, Sarah and Nathan Blackall, Brayden and Rhett Martin, William and Benjamin Stanley, and nephew David (Teresa) Davis of Manchester, Maryland.
