Marianna C. "Ban" Cooney

Mrs. Marianna C. "Ban" Cooney age 89, of Starke passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville. She was born in Westminster, Maryland on June 10, 1928 to the late Milton and Mary Cook, and had moved to Starke almost 50 years ago from New Windsor, Maryland. Mrs. Cooney was a homemaker and of the Methodist Faith, and she also loved being surrounded by animals and taking care of her family. Mrs. Cooney is survived by her husband of 70 years, Harry E. "Skip" Cooney and their three children, Daniel Cooney (Pamela) of Stanley, Virginia, Michael Cooney (Catrell) of Cocoa Beach and Rebecca Cooney of Ocala along with two sisters, Jean Means of Westminster, Maryland and Carlein Harris of Hanover, Pennsylvania. She was also "Grandmother" to Daniel Cooney, twins Morgan and Zachary Cooney and Harrison Cooney along with being "Great Grandmother" to Julius and Cyrus. The family will receive friends in the DeWitt C. Jones Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 beginning at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. Harry Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
