Obituary

With deep love and remembrance, we announce the passing of Marion Brant Russell, beloved mother, grandmother and friend. She went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the age of 96, at her home with family in Gainesville, Florida. Marion was born on April 10, 1929, along with her twin brother, Donald, in Binghamton, New York. She graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1947, and married William Arthur Russell on August 2nd of the same year. They made their home in Binghamton and raised 3 daughters. Over the years, she worked at Bates-Troy dry cleaners and New York Bell phone company. They moved to Florida in 1970, and she continued working at Southern Bell/Bell South until she retired in 1993. After she was widowed in 1999, she met Angelo Marano at their 55th High School reunion in 2002. They were married on May 9, 2008. She was a Southern Baptist for many years, and most recently, a member of LaCrosse Baptist Church. Marion took her greatest pleasure from her children, grandchildren and their families. She was an animal lover and enjoyed many pets over the years, as well as watching the birds and squirrels in her yard.Marion was pre-deceased by her mother, Frances Acker Perry; her twin brother, Donald; her sister, Ruth, her husband, William Russell, and her second husband, Angie Marano. She is survived by her daughters, Diana (Daniel) Drum, Kathy (Bruce) Russell, and Wendy (Glenn) Carver; her grandchildren, Theresa (Jerry) West, Julie (Brent) Natzke, Chris (Sheryl) Drum, Brian (Heather) Russell, Brandon Sorvillo, and Jason Carver; 10 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Society of North Central Florida (https://www.humanesocietyncfl.org/).
