Marion Arthur "Marty" Payne

Mr. Marion Arthur "Marty" Payne, Jr. age 74, of Minneola passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Marty was born on May 19, 1947 in St. Augustine to the late Marion Arthur Payne, Sr, and Lucille (Crutchfield) Payne. He served in the United States Navy and was a crew member of the USS Guadalcanal while the ship was part of the Task Force which recovered the Apollo 9 Command Module. Prior to retirement he worked for the Bradford County, and Orange County school districts as an electronics teacher. He enjoyed fishing, scuba diving, gardening, vacationing, and hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains with his family and friends. One of his greatest joys was playing with his adored great niece and nephew. Survivors are, siblings, Becky Hall (Steve) of Orlando, Nancy Payne of Starke, niece, Nicole Canipe (Richard) of Starke, great niece, Josie Canipe and great nephew, Wyatt Canipe both of Starke.
