Kurcbard, Martha Katherine nee Letsch. Born in Eschwege, Germany on March 23, 1927, Mrs. Kurcbard died Monday, June 1, 2015, in Jacksonville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt to her many family members. Above and beyond all she was a nurturer. She raised her three younger brothers after the death of their mother and lovingly raised her own family in a new and unfamiliar land. She and her husband were married for 56 years before his passing. She was an active member of the Arlington Newcomers Club and of the Red Hat Party Girls. She was an accomplished seamstress and ran her own alterations business. She is survived by her children Genevieve (Al) and Zenon; grandchildren, Monica, Jackie, Lisa (Matthew), Zachary, Sean, and Peter, and great-grandson Julian; brothers, Herbert (Gisela), Werner (Ruth) and Karl-Heinz (Gerda) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Mendel, daughter, Irene and brothers Karl and Otto. Many thanks to all of her Atrium family who cared for her these last years. Funeral services for Mrs. Kurcbard will be held at 11:00AM Saturday in Grace Lutheran Church, where friends may call from 10:30AM, with Pastor Richard Engel officiating. Entombment will follow in Arlington Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South, where friends may call from 9:00AM until 9:00PM on Friday.
