Martin Ray Ricks (61), beloved father, husband, grandfather, and friend passed away onMay 17, 2024 in Gainesville, Florida. He was born June 26, 1962 to his late parents JesseJames Ricks and Ellen Lucille Ricks. Marty has lived his whole life as a resident of Starke,Florida. When he was 18 he started working at the Department of Corrections until he retired.Afterward he became an expert environmental technician until he retired.Throughout his life Marty enjoyed hobbies such as traveling, Salt water aquariums, RCboats, cooking and trying new foods. He was blessed with the gift of creating delectable mealsout of whatever he could find in the kitchen. Marty was known to be quite the prankster. As ateenager Marty would don a mask and scare his neighbors to the point they had to call thepolice!!! He would often have prank wars with his brother Mike and one time they were caughtthrowing moon pies at each other between vehicles on the road. Marty had a heart of gold andloved helping people. He was quick to offer a helping hand and would take the needy into hishome without question.He is preceded in death by his first wife Kathy Ricks and his granddaughter BriannaGillpatrick. He is survived by his wife Michele Altman Ricks of Starke, Fl. His daughters Janet(Dennis) Gibbs of Keystone Heights, Fl , Deda Ellen (Robert) Gillpatrick of Sicklerville, NJ. Hisstep-children Britony (David) Garvin and Anthony Altman. His brothers Danny James and Mike (Teri) Ricks.His Grandchildren Anthony (Brittney), Nekeyta, and Cameron Ricks. Ethan, Kristopher, andCharlotte Gilpatrick. Jaylen Garvin, Mirley Nicklas, and great granddaughter Paisley Mae, andhis best friend Gary Karp. He also leaves behind various cousins, nieces, and nephews.There will be no funeral services as the family wishes to honor his life privately. Martytouched the lives of many with his thoughtfulness, passion and wisdom. He will be dearlymissed by all who knew him.
