Mary Ellen Spence Boyd Mary Ellen Spence Boyd, 74, passed away on Monday January 14, 2013 in Jacksonville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday January 17, 2013 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. with Dr. Vincent K. Kolb officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to service. Mary Ellen was born on November 7, 1938 in West Palm Beach, Florida to Obadiah Spence and Odessa Rast Spence. She worked for many years at Warner Brothers Pictures and later for the Duval County School Board. Mary Ellen was a member of South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church and the Red Hat Society. She was also a past President and longtime member of WOMPI, Women of the Motion Picture Industry. Mary Ellen is survived by her daughter Janelle Lynn Boyd Dawson and her husband, John A.
