Obituary

Mary Evelyn Kerr Chamberlain, 94 of Starke passed away peacefully on September 14, 2009.Mrs. Chamberlain was born on November 5, 1914 in Athens, New York to Robert and Almira Van Loan Kerr, and was a homemaker. Mary met her husband, Doc Chamberlain, while he was building the Rip Van Winkle Bridge over the Hudson River between Catskill and Hudson, NY. They married on March 12, 1934. Soon after, Doc was transferred to various civil engineering jobs in Latin America such as Peru, Venezuela, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Mary embraced her new surroundings and took to the language and culture with her typical enthusiasm and adventurism. In the span of her travels, she had 5 loving children. She loved her life and had a great sense of humor. She was a very kind and sweet person and generous to all. Our Mother and grandmother will be missed tremendously and never forgotten. She is preceded in death by her husband Doc, her sister Molly, and her brothers George and Robby. Survivors are: daughter, Virginia Wolf and husband Gene; son, Robert Chamberlain; daughter, Patricia Stueber and husband Don; daughter, Liana Prevatt; daughter, Mary-Elizabeth Planos and husband Austin; and five grandchildren, Andrew Toback; Blaire Grant and husband Lahitia; Jennifer Prevatt; and twins, Jessica and Veronica Planos. Memorial services for Mrs. Chamberlain will be on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the First United Methodist Church of Starke with Reverend Mike Moore officiating.
