Mary Mefford Gregory, 87 of Gainesville, formerly of Panama City, Florida, passed away on June 19, 2013 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center. Mrs. Gregory was born on August 30, 1925 in Osceola, Missouri to Lawrence Mefford and Ellen Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gregory, parents, sister Betty Hadley, and brothers Lawrence and Charles Mefford. She was also preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Gregory (Melanie) of Wetumpka, AL.Mrs. Gregory is survived by her daughter Laurie Gregory Bell and grandsons, Gregory (Santiya) Bell, Robert Bell, Seth Gregory, and Ian Gregory; granddaughters, Anna Gregory, Jodi (Russell) Perraud, and Kim (Kevin) Clarke; and great-grandchildren Sunny and Oliver Bell, Rachel and Sean Perraud, and Katie and Christopher Clarke.Mary worked as a secretary at the Pentagon and various Air Force facilities around the world. She loved boating and spending time at the beach with her family. She was a voracious reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and could beat everyone at Jeopardy! She was a member of Amvets post 2298 Ladies Auxiliary. She was beautiful until the day she died.A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, Chapel in the Meadows, 4100 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville, FL.
